POST PRODUCTION

I worked in Los Angeles for 15 years in Post Production as a feature film 1st Assistant & VFX Editor, but also have credits on the creative side as a Lead Editor and Colorist, and on the technical side as a VFX Editor and Online Editor.  I have also work extensively in the camera department as an A.C. and D.I.T.   Currently I live in Austin, TX but am set up to work remotely.

CREATIVE & OFFLINE EDITING

I have edited over a dozen short form narrative and documentary films, as well as two feature documentaries and two feature narrative films.  My experience ranges with drama and comedy, many projects which fall into the dark comedy genre. My strengths lay in knowing when to hold a shot and when to hit that beat that really pulls on the viewer’s emotion.

My background as a feature film assistant editor has helped me understand the importance of project management as you edit, and I am also fast at finishing projects.  I have also  and have a background in still photography, so I understand production value and what it takes to get that beautiful, but complicated shot.  I believe the best projects come out of collaboration across pre-production, production, and post-production.

I have also edited music videos, behind the scenes & EPK, trailers, and branded content.

ASSISTANT & VFX EDITING

A good mix between technical and creative, I have almost 20 years experience editing, 15 of them as a feature film assistant. I have successfully delivered 16 RED MX projects and have experience with mixing camera formats such as P2, 5D, and Arri Alexa.  I firmly believe in good communication between set and post. My experience ranges from creating custom templates for DVD and iPad dailies, syncing and organizing projects for the editors, and managing media for temp music and sound fx.  I excel at temp color grades and VFX for previews and have developed multi-layer SFX in action, sci-fi, and horror genres.I can conform timelines as VFX are delivered, and I have managed FileMaker databases for shows with over 1500 VFX shots.

I also have experience as an online editor and colorist, so I know how important it is to keep projects organized for finishing.  My broad experience allows me to have a solid base as a first assistant editor. I can turn around a show in a short timespan. I’ve also managed a features across 8-14 month timelines.

REELS

BEHIND THE SCENES & ELECTRONIC PRESS KIT

I can work with your production to interview, shoot, write, edit, and finish Behind The Scenes, Corporate Sponsorship, and Electronic Press Kit videos of all lengths.

For the last two years, I have been working as a Behind The Scenes & EPK Writer/Editor, first in-house for Bad Robot Productions with Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Star Trek Beyond, and as an Additional Editor on 10 Cloverfield Lane.  I went on to freelance with titles including Cold Iron Pictures/The Film Arcade releases of Mike Birbiglia's Don't Think Twice and Lake Bell's I Do...Until I Don't.

My background as an editor first allows me to interview and shoot footage for exactly the topics and pre-determined content deliverables.  My experience working in the camera department on feature films has taught me how to work respectfully around actors and crew.  Having worked for 3 years on my own documentary, I am confident and help interview subjects feel at ease in front of the camera.

DIRECTING & PRODUCING

Currently I am producing and directing a multi-year documentary project about the first whiskey distillery to open in Austin, TX since prohibition. Although Distilling Dreams is my first directing project, my years of experience structuring different stories as a film editor have allowed me to quickly asses the character points that are the most important, a skill that translates well to working in the field on non-fiction projects.
